Easter Craft + Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and I wanted to share with you an Easter tree that the boys and I put together.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.'

Matthew 28: 5-6 NIV

My very good friend had hosted a local Easter craft event for all families with a Christian theme and unfortunately, we ran out of time and didn't manage to work on our tree, so instead we've had fun putting it together at home.

Below is a photo of our family table (Benjamin has his chemistry set out ready for action!) and you can see the Easter tree in the background on the windowsill. Easter

So here's the result below and I think it looks really pretty.  Our youngest son made the cross with some bands and wooden sticks.  The butterflies also came from Linsay's local event.

Easter

Linsay had used empty tin cans and added mixed concrete so as to keep the branch stable.

Some of the bits and pieces we used to construct the tree - tissue paper, cut out egg shapes, bird shapes, wire, string and googly eyes!

Easter

Linsay had provided the bible verse you see above as well as the colourful paper to wrap around the tin.

Also in preparation for Easter we went to an informal and relaxed reflection for families upon The Last Supper.  There was praise, fellowship and then we ate a meal together with singing and prayer after.  It was such a beautiful event and our friends Sue and Peter did a fantastic job of hosting it.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to our Easter tree gracing our table for lunch and celebrating the fact that Jesus died for us, so that our sins could be forgiven.  He sent the Holy Spirit to reside within us so that we are able to have a personal relationship with God.  Allelulia!
